The Habs Jazz Summer School will run from the 28 August until 1 September 2017.
The application deadline is 28 April, audtions will be held on the week 8 May.
This summer school runs once a year and is open to any young musician aged 11-18. You don’t have to be a Habs student to apply! The course is five days long and non-residential. Each student receives individual instrumental tuition and is placed in an ensemble which will rehearse together throughout the week, giving a performance on the final evening which will be open to parents and the public. During the course there will also be classes on musicianship, repertoire and composition, as well as jam-sessions and a tutor concert. This course is a unique opportunity to study and explore jazz music in new depth, meet like-minded players and develop as a musician.

Music is an integral part of school life at Habs (Sunday Times Independent School of the Year 2016), with over 600 students involved in music-making across a diverse range of genres. At the heart of this there is a thriving community of young jazz musicians, ensembles and teachers that together form jazz at Habs.
At Habs our jazz groups are among the best school ensembles in the country and many of our students have moved on to study jazz at conservatoire level. We have a monthly concert series dedicated to jazz and an award-winning big band who, as well as touring all over Europe, have performed at prestigious venues in the UK, including the Barbican in London.
The Habs Jazz Summer School costs £325. This includes all tuition, lunch for the week and a DVD of the final performance.
