RAF Section CCF

How does one encapsulate all there is to be said about the RAF section into one short column? Where does one even begin? Is it perhaps with our glorious BGI win, that saw us take one of the biggest leads ever, with three points over the other two sections? Or maybe it should be that, for the first time ever, we have been able to send more cadets on more camps than ever before? Or perhaps we should look closer to home where WO Michael Davidson and his team of dedicated SNCOs have left the section a shining body of young men who have spent the last year improving on the basics whilst, at the same time, discovering new and exciting activities to entertain them?

Old “favourites”, such as Proficiency Test learning, paved the way for fresh ideas such as the conclusion of PO Taylor’s seemingly fruitless journey to get a Flight Sim put into the IT Dpt. and an entire day spent teaching the older cadets their roles, their responsibilities and the different ways of leaderships.

Three successful field days culminated in the majority of the new intake flying (yes, they actually let them behind the control stick of a real plane) and then accompanying the older cadets to Ampthill where their battle, mental and culinary skills were put to the test. Whilst Rob Marks and Josh Young both won the inter-flight cooking competition with their respective curries, neither could hope to prevail at the Wide Game, which saw Jolyon Cohen (our new WO) and his team storm to victory.

This year’s Senior NCOs leave the section in the capable hands of Jolyon Cohen and his Flight Sergeants, Jerome Stedman, James Bennett, Winston Luk, Rob Marks and Adrian Coveny. They have all shown a remarkable keenness in the section and all are sure that they are a team that intends to further the RAF section and inspire their cadets to greater things both in and out of the section.

Thanks obviously go to Flt. Left. Bass and Pos Taylor, West and Whiteman, for chaperoning the section with their individual and idiosyncratic brands of humour and, of course, Michael Davidson and all his team for all their hard work.
