Haberdashers Askes Boys School

"Haberdashers was a great combination of learning and fun that set me up for life."

Kevin Bakhurst, Controller, BBC News 24.

13+ Entrance exam day - Friday 4th January 2008

Arrival - 8.30 - 8.45 am

Candidates should be here by 8.45 am but should NOT arrive before 8.30 am.

Due to the heavy volume of traffic using Aldenham Road, and the large numbers of candidates, we have been asked by the Police that parents adhere strictly to the following directions:

  • You should aim to arrive by 8.45 am at the School Coach Park, the entrance to which is in Aldenham Road opposite Dagger Lane. Stewards and Prefects will be in the Coach Park to guide your son to the examination.
  • Keep your son in the car until he is asked to get out at the reception point. Please do not get out of your car.
  • Drive on as soon as your son has left the car as directed by staff/prefects.

Click here for a separate page involving detailed maps of routes of surrounding roads and through the school site.

We are sorry that you will not be able to accompany your son into school, but these arrangements enable us to manage the large numbers safely and efficiently. We will take very good care of him!

What To Bring

Please allow your son to wear warm, comfortable, casual clothes.

Candidates should wear the lapel badge sent with the information pack, which indicates their examination number.

Candidates should bring a pen (ball points are fine), pencil, sharpener, ruler and eraser. Calculators can be used.

Light refreshments will be provided during the mid-morning break and there is a vegetarian lunch of pizza and fruit. If you have any concerns over food and drink, your son may bring a packed lunch.

Collection (3.35 pm - Non-Latin candidates, 4.05 pm - Latin candidates)

Please return to the school coach park to collect your son, who will be brought down to the coach park by us at the end of the examinations.

Your son will be brought to these areas at the end of the examination. Congestion in the school grounds is sometimes unavoidable at this time and we apologise in advance and ask for your patience and understanding.
