The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School Foundation

Since our establishment in 1690 funded by the generous bequest of Robert Aske, The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School has been supported by generation upon generation of Old Haberdashers, parents and friends. Their many gifts (whether large or small, cash or gifts in kind, or bequests and legacies) have allowed us to provide an outstanding educational environment, and though unknown to them, each boy at Habs has thereby been the beneficiary of centuries of philanthropy.

We know that many of our present Old Haberdashers, parents and friends would like to continue and to augment this tradition of generosity. To that end, we have established The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School Foundation (Charity number 1107027). As a recognised charity, all gifts made to the Habs Foundation can be augmented by Gift Aid, which increases significantly the value of the original gift. Equally, higher rate taxpayers can reclaim part of the value of their original gift in their tax return. Benefactors by bequest also stand to gain, offsetting inheritance tax liabilities by making a donation to the Foundation.

The Trustees of the Foundation ensure that the highest standards of conduct apply to the recognition of donors and to the use of their gifts. All donations will go to the ends intended, and donors will be consulted should this not be possible. While we value the ability to inform others of the many purposes to which gifts have been applied, we accept without question a donor’s request for anonymity.

The Foundation currently welcomes gifts by cash and cheque. A facility for giving online by credit card will soon be available and we are also working to set up the mechanisms needed to accept Direct Debits and offline credit card donations.

We respectfully request that all donors complete a donation form and gift aid declaration to accompany their generous gift.

We would also be delighted if donors by bequest might be so kind as to advise us of their intentions to make a gift in this way. This aids our planning processes for the future and provides us with the opportunity to thank you personally for your generosity.
