"[I remember] the sheer intellectual stimulation provided by the school." |
Lawrence Goldman, Editor of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. |
Darren Shan, very popular author of books for children, visited the School on May 6 to give a talk to Years 7 & 8, as part of a promotional tour for his new book, Death’s Shadow. The talk gave us great insight into writing in the horror genre, with readings from dark worlds and hideous monsters. A session where boys were chosen to act out various fantastic and gory scenes from Darren’s writings was particularly appreciated by the audience.
The talk was followed by a short interview by two boys from 7S; then there was a question and answer session. Finally Darren signed books that had been bought at the event with a personal message for each boy.
It was a memorable event, and one much enjoyed by all.
