Athletes clean sweep at District championships

Habs Athletics Club achieved more success in yesterday’s District Athletics Championships held at the Watford track. For the first time ever all four age groups won! Two new school records were also broken Darius Price jumped 1.91 m in the U16 boys High Jump, beating the old record (set in 2000) by 7cm, while Harry Mistry broke the Year 9 Javelin record with a throw of over 45 metres.

Habs athletes also picked up two further awards – for best performances of the day, the Year 9 - 4 x 100m relay team consisting of Josh Pauk, James Hart, Rufus McAlister, Sameer Atwal, won the final in a new district record time of 47.1 secs. Finally, Darius Price received the trophy for the best performance by a Year 10 athlete for his outstanding high jump performance.

This was a superb all round performance by the entire team. Mr Lowe (Head of Athletics) said "Today’s performances were the result of hard work and training by all the athletes throughout the season, I am really pleased with the Year 7’s performance, as it was their first outing at a top meeting. The future of Habs athletics looks bright!"
