"I like being a Prep boy because every teacher is nice and treats every Prep boy as if they are special."

St Benedict’s Rugby 7’s tournament

A team of Year 5 boys accompanied the Year 6 team to this well known tournament for their first taste of 7’s rugby. They were playing in the 2nd team competition but against Year 6 boys. Despite early defeats in the first two of their group matches against Newland House and Donhead, they began to learn quickly and against the host school in their third match ran out winners by a single try to nil. From there on the standard of their rugby improved winning all of their next three matches to find themselves in the Shield Final against Shrewsbury House, a team they had beaten in the last of their group matches. Two tries to nil up at half time, Jamie Leslie picked up the ball at the back of the scrum and ran half the length of the pitch to score our third, effectively putting the game beyond our opponents.
Well done to all the players for being the first Habs Prep team to win a trophy at this very competitive tournament and encouragingly they can all return in the same competition next year.
Team members were Michael Miller, William Sammons, Luca Ignatius, Jamie Leslie, Alistair Afeeva, Freddie Wright, Fayo-Timi Alabi, Joel Carlowe and Max Blum.
