Headmaster's letter - March 2008

Dear Parents,

The Easter Holidays are around the corner and this letter marks the end of another full and vibrant Spring Term. I am delighted to congratulate the 36 boys who hold Oxbridge offers, as well as to congratulate all of those, and they are many, who have first choice places for subjects as varied as Medicine, Engineering and the various Humanities at the very best universities in the UK. Habs stands proudly at the academic forefront of boys’ independent day schools, locally and nationally. We remain, above all else, a happy and close-knit community; a community of boys, parents and staff who share the highest of aspirations.

After one of the most buoyant and competitive Entrance rounds I can remember (which has ensured that we shall be joined by outstanding boys in September) I shall have many fond memories of the term past. By way of example you will be aware that the Hockey Club has had one of its best seasons on record and both boys and staff deserve every congratulation for their efforts.Another memory for me will be our CCF Biennial Inspection which took place last week and was a genuine highlight. It showed Habs off in its best possible light.

One letter cannot do justice to our exhaustive range of activities and successes, so I urge you all to look at our dynamic and ever-changing website for news about boys’ achievements. Please also enjoy this very fine edition of Skylight which captures exciting events from this term.
This term we have continued to make ever more impressive strides in the areas of teaching and learning, and of pastoral care. The professional development of our staff, our use of new technologies, communication with parents and the world beyond, and the enhancement of our beautiful campus are all of the utmost importance.

The building blocks of continued success rest on academic excellence, supported by extra-curricular vitality and the cherishing of a strong and supportive community. Our fundamental aim is simple: to improve our efficiency in every area and thereby to enhance the overall educational experience of our boys.

I shall close by wishing you a peaceful Easter break and look forward to seeing you all next term.

With warmest good wishes,

Yours sincerely

Peter Hamilton
