Football is continually growing in popularity at Habs although currently the School only operates three senior teams along with Under 16 A and B teams, in the Spring term only. Recent years have seen the introduction of an inter house competiton for years 10 and 11, and in 2012 Year 9 had an inter house competition for the first time on Field day. Also in 2011-12, the 1st XI entered the Boodles ISFA Cup for the first time, which has served to improve Habs footballing reputation on the Independent schools' circuit.
In the Spring term, teams play inter school matches against many of the Independent schools in North London and the home counties, including UCS, Bedford, St Albans, Berkhamsted and Radley College. The 1st XI are also a founder member of the LB Cup competition (formerly the Crusader Cup) and won the trophy in 2005, and again in 2013 in a tense penalty shoot-out against St Albans School at Barnet's Underhill Stadium.
Over 100 boys are involved in playing Football on Wednesdays, ranging from traditional inter school fixtures to small sided recreational games. There are opportunities for boys to play whatever their standard. Habs have run a number of tours since 1990, to a wide variety of Footballing destinations including Milan, Barcelona, Munich, Amsterdam, Athens and most recently Portugal in January 2015. The highlight of these trips was undoubtedly a 2 week tour to Brazil in 2005.
