Entry is for applicants aged 11 and below the age of 12 on 1 September in the year of entry. Candidates take an entrance examination consisting of a 90-minute, bespoke reasoning examination on a computer. This includes verbal and non-verbal reasoning, English and Maths questions. This will take place on the school premises. Candidates will be invited to one of four sessions. A number of pupils are called forward for interview on the basis of their performance in the reasoning test and, among these candidates, offers of places are subsequently made. Applicants are not required to bring books, projects or other work with them to interview, but we ask one or both of an applicant’s parents or guardians to attend at this time, in order to meet the Headmaster or a Deputy Head.
