Introduction

Prep and Pre-Prep Admissions

  • 5+ Pre-Preparatory School Entry (Year 1)

There are approximately 36 places at age 5+. Entry is for boys aged 5 and below the age of 6 on 1 September in the year of entry. The date of the first round of assessments is from Monday 24 to Thursday 27 February 2020. All applicants are invited to a playgroup session and then some boys are recalled for a further, one-to-one assessment. Boys joining us in Year 1 will automatically move to the Elstree campus and join Year 3 in due course.

  • 7+ Prep School Entry (Year 3)

Entry is for boys aged 7 and below the age of 8 on 1 September in the year of entry. Candidates take a series of tests in reading, writing, mathematics and reasoning in January. The date of the entrance examination is Thursday 9 January 2020. Some boys are selected for a second stage and are asked to attend for interview at School. Parents are asked to come in with their sons at the interview to meet the Headmaster or Deputy Head. We expect all boys in the Prep School to move to the Senior School.

Senior School Admissions

  • 11+ Senior School Entry (Year 7)

Entry is for boys aged 11 and below the age of 12 on 1 September in the year of entry. Candidates take an entrance examination consisting of written papers in english and mathematics, and an online reasoning examination in January. The entrance examination will be on Friday 10 January 2020. The use of calculators is not allowed. A number of boys are called forward for interview on the basis of their performance in the written examination and, amongst these boys, offers of places are subsequently made. Boys are not required to bring books, projects or other work with them to interview, but we ask one or both of a boy’s parents or guardians to attend at this time, in order to meet the Headmaster or the Deputy Head.

  • 13+ Senior School Entry (Year 9)

Entry is for boys aged 13 and below the age of 14 on 1 September in the year of entry. Candidates take an entrance examination in January consisting of written papers in english, mathematics, science (Chemistry, Physics and Biology), general humanities (this is a source-based not a syllabus-based paper), French and Latin (for those boys who have studied Latin). Spanish and German assessments are also available. The date of the entrace examination is Thursday 9 January 2020. A number of boys are called forward for interview on the basis of their performance in the written examinations and, amongst these boys, offers of places are subsequently made.
