Habs Allotment

During the spring term, a group of students involved in the School Community Service planted a selection of different crops in the hope that they would be able to pass them on to the chefs with the School's catering providers, Holroyd Howe.

It is incredible that there has been an overwhelming response from students from all year groups and staff, who have been eager to learn more about the crops that have been planted and have volunteering to pick up a shovel and help. As a result, all the crops in the below image, apart from the fruit bushes, have been grown from seed by the students.

Towards the end of the summer term, a small group of students carefully harvested the redcurrants and cucumbers from the allotment and delivered them to the chef in the Bates dining hall. The School would like to thank Holroyd Howe, who have been brilliant and have made use of the produce grown and given to them by the students.

It is hoped that all pupils will have the opportunity to tend to the plot and benefit from it. We also look forward to inviting members of the wider community in to enjoy the space in the not-too-distant future.

The School would like to thank Mrs West and all those who supported in the creation and management of the allotment.
