Lower Sixth Talk from His Honour Geoffrey Rivlin QC

As part of the Enrichment programme, Lower Sixth students studying Criminology were delighted to welcome His Honour Geoffrey Rivlin QC to talk about his career as a criminal barrister and QC. His career has spanned many years, and therefore he was able to offer a wealth of knowledge and advice to our Schools aspiring future lawyers.

His Honour was more than happy to answer all of our questions, which ranged from his entry path into the legal profession, and his thoughts on judicial reform of the future, whilst exploring a few of his favourite memories from the bench. These included controversial trials as well as those that made media headlines, including an ITV drama The Quiz based on the major coughing case, his prosecuting and defending in many high-profile trials, and even his work on the case that changed the law to make stealing dead body parts illegal.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the deep dive into his diverse and experienced career as well as the insights His Honour offered the students who look to take their first steps into the legal profession, in whatever roles their choose to pursue in the future.

On behalf of all of the students who attended this talk, from both the Boys' and the Girls' Schools, we would like to thank His Honour Geoffrey Rivlin QC for giving up his valuable time to speak to us and to Mrs Bardou for providing us with this extraordinary learning opportunity.
