School Community Service (SCS)

Our students make weekly visits to local care homes to chat with residents and provide entertainment. Our students often organise and run quizzes and musical performances.

Students design and share high quality reading material and resources with those at local schools.

Students learn how we can make our site more eco-friendly and implement appropriate measures. Our Students organise and carry out the recycling over the whole school site. 

Our older Students aid the Sports department at school by coaching younger students and supporting the preparation for training sessions and fixtures.

Students commit to improving the local landscape by organising and carrying out regular litter picking expeditions. 

Students work to identify links with local charities and establish pen pals with those in need. This includes Old Haberdashers who may be grateful of some social interaction.

Students are taught how to knit and sew blankets, which are then distributed to women refuges, local hospitals, and those in need.

Art students use their creativity to design and paint cow sculptures, which are then placed around the school site to celebrate innovation. 

Students assist the drama department by organising the facilities in preparation for performances throughout the year.

Students have the opportunity to tend our school allotment. Researching how best to use the space, planting and tending to the crops.  

Students edit written articles discussing school events and Inter House competitions. Students also attend and photograph events and write up pieces for the school website and other publications. 

Year 12 students help the Music department at school by supporting the running of rehearsals and preparing for performances.
